495 AC
First Maya settlers built a village and later created settlements with traditional thatched houses.
600 - 1100 AC
Maya and Toltec people built amazing Puuc style temples, the famous pyramid, and played Pok-a-Tok ball game. Chichen Itza became very powerful!
1250 AC
Most families moved away, but some people still came to pray at the magic water hole.
1579 AC
A man from Spain wrote down the name "Chichen Itza" in a book for the first time.

Now Chichen Itza is one of the most famous old places in the world! Lots of people visit every year to see the amazing buildings!
